Dreams for Africa and Kibera Slum...by Wm Kai Stephanos
I did a presentation in one of my classes on Kibera's slum upgrading program. I am spreading awareness of the situation to the world in hopes of helping to bring positive change for Kibera, Africa and its people. I am not ever going to forget or give up on my commitment to help in every way I can from my position here. I am of the opinion that if there is an injustice anywhere there is injustice everywhere. We are all connected in this world. Americans must learn about Africa and understand the challenges that Africans, especially residents of the slums, face ever day. This will help bridge the gap. I really care very much. I want Africans to have all their opportunities, hopes and desires come true. There is no such thing as a 1st world and a 3rd world: there is only ONE world. This is the real truth. I am spreading this truth. It is hard for people to understand, but in time truth will overcome all corruption and pollution, both environmentally and of the minds of the people of the world. I truly believe this. Hope is medicine. Some may say I am a dreamer, but I am not the only one...

Earthquake Update in Tibet...
I have heard disturbing reports this week that Chinese officials have ordered monks to leave the quake zone against their will. In an effort to advance its Tibet propaganda, Beijing has prominently shown images of Chinese-led relief efforts, while downplaying the critical role of Tibetan monks in rescuing people from the rubble, offering prayers for the dead, and providing much-needed support.
Tell China's President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao that Tibetans have the right to be with the Dalai Lama and their spiritual teachers at this difficult time. Write, call and do other things to let the Chinese know your feelings please.
Note: If you are in the United States, you can write to your elected representatives here: http://actionnetwork.org/campaign/Tibetquake
Thank you,

Mao was the greatest mass murderer of the 20th century
Scholars estimate that 16.5 to 40 million people died during the great leap famine. In his October 2005 essay in COMMENTARY, Arthur Waldron describes the architect of Chinas Cultural Revolution this way: Mao was the greatest mass murderer of the 20th century. Much of the killing was direct, as in the torture and purges at Yanan. After the Communist seizure of power in 1949, the practice became countrywide.
